how to play hop along
Hop along is a free endless road crossing game in your browser. Hop a small bunny up a strip of lanes that never ends: grass, busy roads, rivers with drifting logs, and rails with fast trains. Every new row is a point.
- Tap to hop forward. The bunny crouches while your finger is down and hops when you let go. Swipe left, right or back to hop that way. On a keyboard, the arrows or W, A, S and D.
- Cars, trucks and trains flatten you. Their hit box is exactly the car you see.
- Water is deep. Land on a log or a lily pad. Logs carry you along, so hop off before one takes you past the edge.
- When a crossing lamp blinks and the bell rings, a train arrives in a second and a half.
- Don't dawdle. The bottom of the view creeps forward, and hurries if you race far ahead. When its edge glows red and a shadow sweeps past, the hawk is coming.
Keyboard: Arrow keys or W, A, S and D hop; Space hops forward too. Esc goes back to the menu.
tips
- Tap again while the bunny is in the air and that hop waits its turn, so quick taps never get lost.
- You can hop sideways along a log to line up the next one.
- Trees and rocks block the way on grass. Look a lane ahead.
- A little ahead of the edge is the sweet spot: room to wait for a gap, no hawk.
faq
Is there a time limit?
No clock, but standing still ends the run in a few seconds: the view keeps creeping and the hawk takes anyone it leaves behind. Its shadow shows first.
Can every row be crossed?
Yes. Every strip is generated so a gap always exists in time, and a search that plays the strip checks that 300 rows can be crossed with the view creeping.
Why did I fall in when I was on a log?
You land on a log if the bunny's middle is over it, with a little grace at the ends. A hop that lands past the end goes in the water.
Does the bunny get hurt?
No. It gets a bit flat or a bit wet, or the hawk gives it a lift home. Then you can play again.
What's a good score?
50 rows is a decent run, 120 is very good, and 250 is a perfect ten.
