how to play mixup
Mixup is a free pattern game. A grid of tiles forms a smooth color gradient, except a few tiles have swapped places. Swap them back before the clock runs out. Five grids per game, each scored from 0 to 100%, and a daily set that everyone gets.
- Scan the grid for tiles that break the gradient. The counter shows how many tiles are out of place.
- Tap a tile, then tap where it belongs to swap them. You can also drag one tile onto another.
- A tile that lands home gives a little chime. Fix them all before the clock runs out.
- It gets harder: one swapped pair in round one, up to four in the last, and the gradients get subtler and the swaps nearer each round.
Keyboard: Arrow keys move between tiles, Enter or Space picks and swaps, Enter moves to the next round, and Esc goes back to the menu.
tips
- Look along rows, then columns. A misplaced tile usually breaks both.
- Squint. Blurring your eyes slightly makes the odd tile pop.
- Every misplaced tile has a partner somewhere that looks wrong in the opposite way.
faq
How is mixup scored?
By how much you fixed and how fast. Fixing everything with the full clock left scores 100%. Your score is the share of tiles you sent home, times 30% plus 70% of the time left, so fixing it all at the buzzer still scores 30%.
Is there a daily mixup?
Yes. Everyone gets the same five grids each day, with one attempt, a streak and a spoiler-free share.
Can I make it worse?
Yes. Swapping two correct tiles breaks them, and the counter goes up. Swap them back if you slip.
