how to play the odd one
The odd one is a free party game for 3 to 12 players and one phone. Everyone secretly gets the same word, except one player who gets a slightly different one. Take turns describing your word without saying it, then vote on who the odd one is. The odd one doesn't always know they're the odd one.
- Choose how many players and a word pack, type everyone's name if you like, then tap deal.
- Pass the phone around. Each player holds the card to see their word; it hides again the moment they let go.
- The first speaker is named for you (it is never the odd one). Go around twice, one clue each, while a two minute clock runs.
- Vote together and reveal. Miss, and the odd one scores two.
- Catch them, and the odd one gets one last chance: say out loud what everyone else's word was. Right, and they steal two points. Wrong, and everyone else scores one.
tips
- Be specific enough to prove you're not the odd one, and vague enough not to give the word away.
- If the others' clues sound a little off, you might be the odd one. Blend in.
- Packs: food, animals, places, jobs, school, sports, or everything mixed.
faq
How many people can play?
Three to twelve, all on one phone.
Is it kid friendly?
Yes. All the word packs are written by us and safe for all ages.
Are scores saved?
Points stay on screen for as long as you keep playing rounds with the same group. Names are remembered on this device.
Can someone peek at the word?
Only while the card is held down. Let go and it turns back over, so passing the phone never shows the last player's word.
