how to play more or less

More or less is a free higher-or-lower trivia game. Two cards, two things: countries, mountains, landmarks, rivers, islands and lakes. Pick the one with the bigger number (more people, taller, longer or bigger). The winner stays on the board and a new challenger comes in. Keep picking right to build your streak.

  1. Read the question at the top: more people, taller, longer or bigger.
  2. The card on the left (or on top) shows its number. Tap whichever card you think wins.
  3. If you're right, the winner stays and a new challenger appears. Every five picks, the topic changes.
  4. One wrong pick ends the run. The daily is ten picks, the same for everyone.

Keyboard: Left arrow or 1 picks the first card, right arrow or 2 picks the second, and Esc goes back to the menu.

tips

  • The first few picks are far apart; they get closer as your streak grows.
  • The challenger wins about half the time, so sticking with the card on the board isn't a safe bet.
  • The daily is ten matchups, shown as ten dots. Freeplay keeps going until your first wrong pick.
  • Two things closer than 5% never meet, because sources disagree at that range.

faq

Where do the numbers come from?

From Wikidata (CC0), the free knowledge base, compiled when the site is built and rounded for display. We picked every item by hand and pinned a few values where Wikidata lists several.

Why isn't my favorite city or mountain in it?

We stuck to things with solid, easy-to-check numbers. City populations are out, because sources mix city limits and metro areas. Heights are in meters, lengths in kilometers and areas in square kilometers.

Is there a daily?

Yes. Everyone gets the same ten matchups each day. Solo mode deals endless practice runs that stay clear of the coming week's daily cards.

How is it scored?

Your score is your streak: how many picks in a row you got right. The share shows a green square for each and a red one for the miss.
