how to play jackhammer
Jackhammer is a free click speed test. Hit the slab as many times as you can before the clock runs out, by tapping, clicking or mashing a key. Your score is hits per second, and the slab cracks a little more with every hit.
- Pick a length with the difficulty switch: easy is one second, normal five, hard ten.
- Tap, click or press any key to start. The clock starts on your first hit, and that hit counts.
- Keep hitting until time runs out. Holding a key down doesn't repeat; every press has to be a new one.
- Your score is hits per second, and your best is kept for each length.
Keyboard: Any key except Esc and Tab is a hit. Esc goes back to the menu.
tips
- On a phone, two thumbs taking turns beat one finger.
- On a mouse, relax your wrist and let the finger do the work. Tense arms tire fast.
- On ten seconds, pace yourself for the first few. Most people fade in the second half.
faq
What's a good score?
Around 6 to 7 hits per second is typical with a mouse. 10 or more is very fast. Phones with two thumbs can go higher.
Does the keyboard count?
Yes. Any key works except Esc and Tab, and only fresh presses count, so holding a key does nothing.
Why are the lengths on the difficulty switch?
So your best score is kept separately for each one: one second is a sprint, ten is a test of stamina.
